DAVIDsTea Christmas 2015

Good morning, dear readers!

(Woah, so I wrote this post on December 2nd. 2015 and didn't finish it all at the time in order to actually post it, but I like this post so I'm posting it now!  Although some of the links in it probably won't work if they are for teas that aren't available anymore.)

Recently my sister and I went to DAVIDsTea when we were out Christmas shopping, and she picked up four of the Christmas skinny tins for me :D!!!  Eeeeeee!  (We kinda give each other Christmas gifts's a non-official tradition.)

Each of these adorable and beautiful tins comes with 50g of tea (and did I mention that the tins are adorable and beautiful??).

It's also possible to buy the tea without a tin, and some of these come in larger tins as well.  The prices differ from tea to tea, but all of the skinny tins cost the same (more than the teas by themselves, but THOSE TINS!!).

The skinny tins run for about $9.00 Can., but they had (and might still have) a deal for 2 for $15.00 Can..

Here's what we got:

Sleigh Ride

Falling snow, popping chestnuts, cold hands and noses…yep, winter has arrived. But don’t worry, we have the perfect tea to warm you up all December long. Cinnamon, apples, raisins, almonds, and hibiscus combine for a tea that is sweet, tart, and earthy. And beet pieces make it as nice and rosy as a caroler’s cheeks. So hop in your sleigh, snuggle up, and pass a thermos around. It’s lovely weather for a Sleigh Ride together.

And packed in this slim, stylish little tin, it's the perfect way to take your new favourite tea everywhere you go. " - DAVIDsTEA

"warm yourself up

Maybe you spent the day on the slopes. Maybe it was a frantic afternoon of holiday shopping. Or maybe you’re coming in from an epic snowball fight. No matter what you did on this chilly day, there’s no better way to warm up than with a great cup of tea. And it doesn’t get more comforting than this mulled wine-inspired all natural oolong, with orange zest, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Whether you’re sipping it at the ski chalet, in front of a roaring fire or just between errands, it’s the perfect way to warm up your winter.

And packed in this slim, stylish little tin, it's the perfect way to take your new favourite tea everywhere you go." - DAVIDsTEA

"toastess with the mostess

Something about cardamom just puts us in a festive frame of mind. We love its rich, fragrant taste any way we can get it. One of our faves? The buttery, cardamom-scented Christmas breads popular in Sweden and Finland. And cardamom toast is great,it only stands to reason that cardamom French toast would be out of this world. With black tea, cardamom, cane sugar and cinnamon, this rich, sweet blend tastes just like the decadent breakfast of our dreams. Only this is one brunch item you’ll be wanting all day long.

Snow Day

"baby, it’s cold outside

Got a blizzard on the way? Score! There’s no better excuse to cozy up inside with a great cup of tea. And this all natural chocolate-mint tisane is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly winter day. With peppermint, cacao nibs and dark chocolate drops, it’s sweet, creamy and oh-so comforting. The best part? Cute little snowflake-shaped sprinkles that add a touch of sweetness. Bring it on, winter!" - DAVIDsTEA

I really love the aesthetics of the DAVIDsTEA winter theme.  I've also decided to start collecting their tins because they are so handy and cute.  I've got 5 now officially, the other being a standard green tea green colour from earlier in the year (when I picked up some of their matcha).  The 4 new ones are a welcome addition to our house tea collection.

We also got two of these adorable penguin infusers, which retail for $12 Can. but were on sale for 2 for $20 Can..

While we've tried Sleigh Ride so far in store (they have samples of the tea of the day) we have yet to try the other three and I'm really looking forward to it. :D (Update for August 2016: I've tried them all now and will write reviews later! :D)

For those who aren't very familiar with DAVIDsTEA (their logo looks like that with almost all caps) they sell teas as well as tisanes/herbal infusions (things from yerba mate, rooibos, to fruit and nut combinations and flowers and leaves.  They even have some coffee beans and candy in some products.  They also sell tea ware, from matcha utensils to their Nordic Tea Mugs (which are lovely and I just got one for my birthday and YAAAY!).

I definitely recommend DAVIDsTEA (from now on I'll probably write it as DavidsTea).  They do have some teas and tisanes that are one ingredient only, but they also have a lot of blended and flavoured teas and tisanes as well.

Have you ever stopped by a DavidsTea?  They also sell ready-made teas to drink on the spot.

Have a wonderful day, and I am really looking forward to their upcoming holiday collection!! :D

I still have the menu from their winter lineup, when I find it again I'll take some photos to update this post (I really really realllllly liked last years holiday look. with the dark and light blues and the penguins and stars.  So beautiful!  I hope the holiday 2016 look is just as beautiful!).

(PS. Their Cardamom French Toast is making a return this October! : D)

My 31st Birthday

Good morning, dear readers!

A few weeks ago(ish) I had my 31st birthday, and first off I want to thank my loved ones for being so amazing to me and for making it a wonderful day!! : D  Thank you so much!!

I like making posts like this on my blog, as I can use my blog as a diary to review these posts in the future and remember about special times in my life.

I pulled a somewhat all-nighter so I was pretty zonked for a good part of the day, but it was still lovely!

Early in the morning I was sharing music back and forth and one of the songs that came up was this one from Twister, which I have always really liked (along with the credit video that went with it):

This song was also shared with me and it's so lovely:

After that and instead of my going to bed at a regular hour, I watched a couple movies on Netflix and then in the morning after it was light out, I ended up staying up and planning part of the day.

I was able to get some amazing gifts from my family, and I am so thankful for them and for what they gave to me.  I am also so thankful to my SO and super close friends as well, even if I didn't necessarily let them get me presents like they would have wanted.  *HUGS!!!!!!*

Here are some wonderful things I got for my birthday:

Bath and Body Works 3 wick candle in Flannel:

Bath and Body Works 3 wick candle in Crisp Morning Air:

Yankee Candle in Rainbows End:

DavidsTea Origami Bunny Infuser:

DavidsTea Love Tea #7 (I really wanted to get these!  THOSE TINS!! EEEE!!!!)

Celestial Seasonings Fruit Sampler and Bengal Spice herbal teas

DavidsTea Pink Flamingo herbal infusion:

DavidsTea The Glow rooibos tisane:

The Nordic Tea Mug and Gingerbread Cookie tea scented candle from DavidsTea:

Here's the Nordic Mug:

I also got some Spiced Apple tisane from DavidsTea, but I had a problem with it and returned it (which allowed me to get two more nordic mugs for loved ones!)

I was so, so glad to get the nordic mug in the style from last Christmas season, as I had really wanted one but was unable to get one at the time.  My sister, Dad and I went to DavidsTea together and they had some stock leftover from Christmas, and EEEEEEEEE!!!!  I was so happy!!!  So my sister picked the mug up for me (thank you to my sister!! THANK YOUUUU!!!!).

I had to get the Gingerbread Cookie matching candle (with birthday funds that were given to me).  It's so cute!!!

I was really fortunate to get other things as well, including a new screen for my window!
(Now I can get awesome fresh air without bugs!! :D)

My sister made me a deliciously wonderful spice cake and I was saddened when it was all gone. :(  It was really delicious!

Also dinner that evening/night was a really delicious feta and spinach roll (with phyllo pastry). Aw yeah!

Thank you so, so much to my loved ones, to my family and friends for being so amazing and wonderful to me and for giving me such a lovely birthday! :D

Have a wonderful day!

Changes to Art Evolve

Good afternoon, dear readers!

I've made a few changes to Art Evolve, including this awesome new template which I think perks things up a lot on my page.  I also added new page tabs at the top, one for MTG altered cards and another for nail polish.

The MTG page tab will open up to a page that displays altered art I have painted on Magic the Gathering cards, with images for comparison showing the original art on the card.

The nail polish page tab will lead one to a page where I have linked the names of nail polishes I have used in different blog posts, either from swatch posts or from combination manicures and nail art.  I would like to set up another page that shows photos with links to different nail art that I have featured on my blog.

This is definitely going to be a versatile blog, with posts ranging from art, cosmetics reviews, gaming related posts to posts on links around the web for things I enjoy or think are important, and probably many things in between!

Thank you for visiting my blog, and have a wonderful day!!

Good afternoon, dear readers!

It's definitely been quite a while since I posted on this blog.  For one, I've been focusing more energy and time on the relationships I have with loved ones.  :D

I've also been battling with a lot of anxiety and depression and the mental illnesses can drain a lot of my energy and drive to do things I would otherwise enjoy.  Thankfully I have incredible support from my family and friends.

I've been watching some interesting videos online in the past two days regarding mental health, and I'd like to post links to them on here for those who might be interested:

The first one is a brilliant lecture on depression:
Stanford's Sapolsky on Depression in U.S. by Robert Sapolsky

(Also to those interested, the Stanford YouTube page has a bunch of lectures up for free!)

Stress, Portrait of a Killer by National Geographic and Robert Sapolsky (this is about severity in which stress can affect the human body, very eye-opening and can be actually stressful to some, but at the same time it really shows the importance of taking care of oneself and finding ways to cope with and lower stress in ones life)

I thought this TedTalk was really sweet:
A New Plan for Anxious Feelings: Escape the Custard! by Neil Hughes

I also thought this was a really sweet video with lovely suggestions:
How I Reduce Anxiety & Relax Naturally by holistichabits

She seems to be a lovely person who exudes joy and the video was relaxing to watch.  While I don't personally resonate with all the things that she lists as ways for her to relax (I don't personally believe that there are healing powers from gemstones) it really can be individual finding things that can help oneself.  She lists some lovely ideas for relaxation.

Also I do want to mention, if you do decide to take herbal supplements in the form of a tablet or tea or anything like that, please be sure to research it especially if you take medications of any kind.  There can be interactions between some herbs and medications and it's best to be safe when trying them (like St. John's Wort).

Well!  This seems a good enough "hi I'm going to more active on my blog in this part of the year" post, so I'll wrap this one up for now and hit the publish button.

Have a wonderful day!
