Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on here. A lot has been going on in my life lately and I have been focusing on other people and things than my blog. I think I will get back into blogging some more later this year. :D
What brings me here this evening is that I was recently told about the Father's Day collection from Lush and was asked if I would like to sample something from the line.
YEEEEES PLEASE! It's Lush, and if you have seen some of my previous posts in my blog you can probably tell that I've been a big fan of their products!
I also am a fan of woodsy, herbal, and citrus scents (especially orange!), and this line seems to focus on those.
As of right now there are 6 products in this line and three gift sets:
I was sent some Thanks Dad soap, a Modfather bubble bar and a Superdad bath bomb.
The Modfather bubble bar, which is ADORABLE!! This retails at $5.95 Can. for 100 g..
According to Lush.ca:
"Just for Dad
This refreshing Brazilian orange oil bubbler is for the snappiest of dressers and the most discerning of bathers. With its bright colors and citrusy scent, The Modfather will revive the senses of hardworking Dads and give them a reason to relax. Crumble under running water for luxuriously fragrant bubbles, silky water and a fresh scent to perk up your mood. We suggest picking up two: one for Dad and one for you!" - Lush.ca
Here are the ingredients:
Sodium Bicarbonate , Cream of Tartar (Potassium bitartrate) , Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Lauryl Betaine , Corn Starch (Zea Mays) , Fragrance , Brazilian Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis) , *Limonene , Titanium Dioxide , Blue 1 Lake , Blue 1 , Red 4 . *Occurs naturally in essential oils
This smells really really good! I find the Brightside bubble bar to have more of a candy-like orange fragrance (or more like vitamin c tablets, which my sister described the scent as and I agree with her), where I find this has a very fresh and ripe real orange fragrance. (The Brightside uses bergamot, tangerine and mandarin oils where the Modfather uses brazilian orange oil and that's probably why there is that difference.)
I used 1/2 of the bar and I find it is perfectly sized for 2 baths.
Here's how much I used:
The water had that softer feel to it that I find happens when using Lush bubble bars, and while there was a lovely fragrance in the bathroom it was in no way overwhelming and I didn't find my skin to be very scented after using the bubble bar and the Thanks Dad soap together.
Here's the bath at around half full to show the colour that it would probably be at full if I had used the whole bar:
I agitate the water when I fill up the tub to produce more bubbles (I usually fill a milk jug type container with the water and pour it back into the tub repeatedly while it's filling up from the tap):
And I think this is how the colour turned out after finishing filling the tub:
It was such a lovely colour and it made a nice amount of bubbles! I found they did dissipate pretty fast but that's okay. It would be great if this was a product that could return in subsequent Father's Day collections because it is a really pleasant and lovely bubble bar.
Thanks Dad Soap
This retails for $5.95 Cad. for 120 g..
According to Lush.ca:
"Hip to be square
If this soap was a Dad, it would probably tell you: “You might not want to be seen with me; I’m pretty square.” Then you’d roll your eyes, because come on, dad jokes. Thankfully, this playful soap is one you’ll want to be seen with everywhere! Citrusy Brazilian orange oil and fresh orange make quick work of cleansing the skin, while softening coconut oil swoops in to add a touch of moisture."
Here are the ingredients:
Glycerine , Rapeseed Oil; Coconut Oil (Brassica napus; Cocos nucifera) , Water (Aqua) , Fresh Orange Juice (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis) , Sorbitol , Fragrance , Brazilian Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis) , *Limonene , Sodium Stearate , Sodium Chloride , Titanium Dioxide , EDTA , Tetrasodium Editronate , Sodium Hydroxide , Yellow 8 , Red 4 , Red 33 .
This smells like orange juice! It smells so delicious!! It also doesn't dry out my skin very much which several soaps I've tried before can. However I find that when using it without a washcloth or loofah (I haven't tried it with those), it almost completely did not lather for me at all! Which was very surprising. I've found that several Lush soaps I've tried don't lather as much as other brands like Dove or Ivory, but this one reaaaaally didn't lather much for me (I was questioning if it could at all).
It's a strange sensation using a bar of soap which doesn't lather and it felt like I was cleaning my skin with orange juice. However it smells really, really good!
My sister could smell the scent of the bubble bar and the soap in the hallway afterwards and complimented it. Both the soap and the bubble bar pair well together with their delicious orange goodness.
The bar kind of reminds me of the Honey I Washed the Kids soap with the translucent top layer (and both the top layer of this soap and HIWTK tends to separate from the bottom layer after several uses) and the opaque bottom layer. With flash on the camera you can see more of the clarity of the top:
I'm glad that Lush has Father's Day products and I really enjoy the orange fragrances. I find orange to be a very uplifting and refreshing scent. I'm really glad that I was able to try these new products!
I haven't tried the bath bomb yet, but there will be another review up for that probably tomorrow!
Have a wonderful evening and thank you Lush for this lovely opportunity!! That orange fragrance... yaaaay!
