Happy New Year! and Born Pretty Store Review

Good morning, dear readers! :)

First off:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :D

Wow, it is 2014 :O!!  Did you do anything exciting for New Year's Eve? :D Any resolutions for this year?

Today I have a review on some products that were sent to me by Born Pretty Store.

First up, I have this nail art magazine:

Unfortunately it got a bit crumpled during transit, but that happens.  There could be a million different ways for this to get damaged in the mail (same with any piece of mail), but I'm not too worried, since it is mainly that one corner that took the brunt of the damage.

Anyway, it is the inside that counts! :D

This is a lovely magazine for inspiration.  It is mostly full of false nail manicure art photos, and while there is a tutorial in there, it is mainly for viewing what others have already done.

This version of the magazine (there are others) focuses on blue and purple nails, although there are some others thrown in there:

I really recommend this for inspiration!  It reminds me of a smaller version of Japan's Nail Up and Nail Max magazines (which are so awesome). :D

Next, I asked to be sent one of these nail striping tape rolls.

Sadly, I did encounter some problems when I went to use it.  The glue was overly sticky, more so than usual, and I should have realised that something was amiss when I was taking the tape out of the protective bag it came in, as it had really stuck to the plastic.

When I started to roll out some of the tape, parts of the glue removed some of the coloured coating and stuck it to the tape below it, resulting in this:

It really is a shame, because this tape has a lovely opaline look to it.

My guess is that it may have gotten too warm at some point, or maybe the tape had too many freeze/thaw cycles (it was mailed to me and right now it is over -20 degrees Celsius outside in my wintry Canadian wonderland XD).

I put a piece on my nail to see how it would work, and when I lifted the tape, it left some glue behind.  :(

However, there are plenty of great reviews on the product page which show that mine was a pretty isolated incident (I still stand by my original thought that environmental factors were involved).

Oh well, these things happen! :)  I am not too disappointed, as I have done many reviews from Born Pretty Store with no problems whatsoever.  I have had many great experiences with them, and I cannot fault them for accidents.

Their customer service is wonderful, and I have no doubt that if I had ordered this and asked for a replacement, that they would send one my way.  :D

Let me end this review on a great note: they sent me a pair of earrings with the other items (I am guessing it was for a Christmas gift!) :)

These bring me a smile both for the fact that they were sent to me as a surprise out of kindness, and also because they remind me of the retro costume jewellery that my grandmother used to collect (very 1950's!!!).  :'D

Thank you Born Pretty Store for your kindness, I really appreciate that so much! :'D *insert many hearts*

  1. Terrific review post! I'm going to be working with Born Pretty for the first time ever a little later in the year, so I was all the more interested to read this post. I'm really happy to know that over all you enjoyed your product review experience with them and hope I will, too.

  4. Happy new year! Those earrings are really retro... I would totally wear them though, assuming they're not ridiculously heavy! :)

Yeah, too bad about the tape, but I seem to be the only person who had that problem so that is good! :D

About Me

My Photo

Heyo!  I am the writer behind Art Evolve, a blog about things and stuff, that I update sometimes.  >:D

I have a serious love for books, gaming, and general sci-fi and fantasy things.

I also love music and art, and hope to become a better musician and artist as time goes on.

I just started playing Magic: The Gathering again after a looooong break (11 years!?!), and it is awesome.  I hope to become a better Magic player too, because I'm not that great at it heheheh.

I was introduced to edh last (I think?) month, and it has quickly become a favourite format.

OH!  I also do MTG altered art, which I recently started and it is seriously fun and rewarding.  Magic + art practice?  Aw yeah!! :D

What else, what else...  I like video games, and play on both PC and console (PS!!).  I love rpg's and some good shooters, and killing zombies is a plus.

I love chocolate, tea and coffee.  I smoke cigarettes, which is stupid, so don't ever smoke cigarettes because it is stupid.

I also really like food.  Too much so.  Especially crunchy things!  I seriously need to get some bubble tea because it has been way too long.

I love to study but my ADHD makes it a bit difficult (a lot difficult, because remembering things can be kinda rediculous).  I also have obsessive compulsive disorder which sucks.  And anxiety disorders, which suck.

Favourite subjects include: astronomy, nihongo, art, geology, stuff like that.

HAVE AT YOU, KNAVE!  *slaps*
