31 Day Nail Challenge - Day 11 - Polka Dots (Oops!)

Good super early morning, dear readers! :D

I apologize for not posting yesterday; I was visiting with a friend.  :)

So, today is day 11 of the 31 Day Nail Challenge.  The theme for today is polka dots.  Instead of polka dots, I did just a dot manicure (whoopsie-daisy!!).

The design I did was inspired by some manicures I saw a while ago from Reddit Laqueristas.  I unfortunately can't remember who did this design first (:'(), otherwise I would give credit for it.  (If you know who invented this, please let me know!! :D)

So, here is my not-polka-dot-but-just-dot manicure.  XD

For the base I used Sinful Colors Grecian Sun (sooooooooooooooooo beautiful!!!) and then I used a bunch of different colours for the dots (here are some I think I used: Zoya Yara, Orly Gumdrop, Sinful Colors Mint Apple, Sinful Colors Athens, Acrylic Paint and maybe some frankens?).

This was really fun to do! :D

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!! :D

(EDIT: Uugh, I apologize for my lack of comments lately; my internet is really sucking.  It's having a hard time even loading my blog!!! :()

Gold Leaf Franken Over Zoya Lotus

Good evening, dear readers! :D

As some of you were interested in seeing some swatches of the gold leaf top coat I made, here it is over Zoya Lotus! (Thank you so much Malinda for the gorgeous purple!!! :D!!)

The only thing about it is that in the bottle, the clear now has a red tinge from something oxidizing.  I think the gold is 23.25K and I am not sure what alloys are in it.  But the flakes stay gold, and thankfully you can't really see the reddish tinge when you apply it, since it is so sheer.  :D

I hope to get some pure 24K loose gold leaves to make some more (hopefully without the oxidization) but it looks like I may have to order it from Switzerland.

Take care everyone, and have a wonderful day!!! :D

Gold Leaf Nail Polish...

Good morning, dear readers! :D

It has been brought to my attention that Sephora by O.P.I has come out with a gold leaf top coat.

It's called 'It's Real 18K Gold Top Coat', and retails around $30-$36.

I made my own.

For this I used most of a bottle of Color Club clear polish (or top coat, whatever it is that comes in those 7 packs), two sheets of loose leaf gold, and about 3/4 a sheet of patent gold leaf.  I believe these sheets are around 23.5 K or something like that (I was told something like that, the sheets have been in my family for a while (they belonged to my grandfather who gilded things).

The only thing is that since this is a higher grade of gold, it is more yellow than, say, 10K (which is probably one of my favourite gold percentages).

This was pretty easy to make, and definitely does not cost anywhere near the amount that the stores are asking for.  :/

Have a wonderful day everyone!!! :D

Super Epic Nail Mail!!!!

Good afternoon, dear readers!!

I've already posted today, but I really wanted to tell you about the amazing nail mail I got today!!!

A week or two ago a lovely lady named Malinda contacted me, and asked me if I would like some polishes.  At first I thanked her for her kindness, but told her that I couldn't do a swap right now, as I don't have any money at the moment.

She then e-mailed me back, and said that she just wanted to give the polishes to me!!! :'D  I couldn't believe how kind she was!!  She said that they were lightly used, and I didn't mind at all!!

Fast forward to today....

I went to the store to check the mail (despite the rainyness), and there was nothing but the same old junk mail and a bill.

I walked home, and as I was getting to the door, I saw a bag in the garden, holding a decent sized box!  At first I wondered if it was garbage that was to be put out, but then I decided to investigate, and am I ever glad I did!!!

Inside, there was a package for me from UPS!!!  WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  (I'm so not used to getting mail delivered right to the door! :'D  Talk about being spoiled!! :D XD

I saw that it was from Malinda, and I went inside quickly and plopped it onto my kitchen table to open it up.  First things first, the box was BIG and quite heavy for a box containing nail polish.

Inside, there was a lovely note from her, and a list of the polishes she sent to me.  Some of them she bought just for me!!! :'D  And the lightly used ones didn't look used at all!

I sat there with my mouth hanging open, in shock!!!  Here is what I got...

Left to right: O.P.I Teenage Dream, O.P.I Number One Nemesis, O.P.I Just Spotted the Lizard, O.P.I Into the Night, and Nicole by O.P.I Rainbow in the S-Kylie.

I also got:

Left to right: Orly Space Cadet, Sally Hansen Glass Slipper, China Glaze Smoke and Ashes, Sinful Colors Cinderella and Sinful Colors 24/7.

I ALSO got (:'D!!!):

Left to right: Claire's Candy Shop, All That Glitters Very Peacock-ish, The Hungry Asian On a Budget, The Hungry Asian Sneeze Breeze, The Hungry Asian Mumbling, Zoya Lotus and Revlon Popular!!!

Isn't this AMAZING!!!???! :"D  I love ALL of these!!!  So many were on my wishlist, and the rest would have been if I remembered to put them on it!!  It's like she knew EXACTLY what polishes I love, even if they weren't listed!!!!

Ohmygosh Malinda, thank you THANK YOU!!!! :'D SOoooooOOooo much!!!!  :'D  I am going to have so many hours of fun with these!!!!!

I really can't thank you enough!! :'D

Twinsie Tuesday - Ombre Nails

Good morning, dear readers! :D

Today is Twinsie Tuesday!!

Ombre nails are the theme for today.

For this manicure I had a tough time finding polishes that matched really well for the ombre look, so I made mini ombre patterns (the middle, index and thumb, and the middle, ring and pinky) going in each direction from the middle nail.  Does that make any sense? : /  I then tried to make gradients on each nail.  I then added a couple coats of Color Club Covered in Diamonds.  After that, I tried to paint around the nail art in black acrylic paint, but my hand wasn't so steady and the bumpiness from the flakies didn't help.  So here is my confusing mess of a manicure! :D

Don't forget to check out these lovely ladies blogs for their Twinsie posts! :D

31 Day Nail Challenge - Day 10 - Gradient

Good early morning, dear readers!

Today I have another gradient to share with you, as this is the theme for day 10 of the 31 Day Nail Challenge.

So this really wasn't the best gradient ever; for some reason I have been having a lot of trouble making gradients lately.  : /

For this I used Zoya Skylar and Zoya Neeka, and topped it off with Sinful Colours Hottie.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend (and for those celebrating Victoria Day, Happy Victoria Day!! :D)!

-Ashesela ;)

31 Day Nail Challenge - Day 9 - Rainbow

Good early morning, dear readers!

For today's entry, I have a gradient rainbow manicure.  The gradients didn't turn out as well as I would hope, but oh well!  Here we go:

There were quite a few layers of polish on, so you can see that the nails look a bit thick o.o;.  XD
I can't really remember the exact polishes I used.  I think I used Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine, Essence Ultimate Pink, Essence Wake Up!, Sinful Colors Mint Apple, Colour Club Hydrangea Kiss and Revlon Stunning.  There may be more polishes in the mix, but I can't remember.  >.<

Have a wonderful Sunday!! :D

About Me

My Photo

Heyo!  I am the writer behind Art Evolve, a blog about things and stuff, that I update sometimes.  >:D

I have a serious love for books, gaming, and general sci-fi and fantasy things.

I also love music and art, and hope to become a better musician and artist as time goes on.

I just started playing Magic: The Gathering again after a looooong break (11 years!?!), and it is awesome.  I hope to become a better Magic player too, because I'm not that great at it heheheh.

I was introduced to edh last (I think?) month, and it has quickly become a favourite format.

UPDATE: Wow, that was in March of last year!  Time really flies!  Definitely not magnificent at it, but still on the Magic train and much better at it than last year.  XD

OH!  I also do MTG altered art, which I recently started and it is seriously fun and rewarding.  Magic + art practice?  Aw yeah!! :D

What else, what else...  I like video games, and play on both PC and console (PS!!).  I love rpg's and some good shooters, and killing zombies is a plus.

I love chocolate, tea and coffee.  I smoke cigarettes, which is stupid, so don't ever smoke cigarettes because it is stupid.

I also really like food.  Too much so.  Especially crunchy things!  I seriously need to get some bubble tea because it has been way too long.

I love to study but my ADHD makes it a bit difficult (a lot difficult, because remembering things can be kinda rediculous).  I also have obsessive compulsive disorder which sucks.  And anxiety disorders, which suck.

Favourite subjects include: astronomy, nihongo, art, geology, stuff like that.

HAVE AT YOU, KNAVE!  *slaps*
