Essence - Date in the Moonlight

Good morning, dear readers!

Today I have a swatch of Essence Date in the Moonlight.

I saw that the Shopper's Drug Mart's had gotten in the new Essence bottles, and I picked up this one (and a couple others) that I wanted to try.

Here are the swatch photos:

I included photos with and without flash, to give you a better idea of how this polish looks.  It's like a muted, dusty navy blue with tiny, lighter blue sparkles.  It is quite pretty, but a lot darker than I would have expected.

The only real grievance I have with this polish is the brush.  It is enormous!!  Way too big for my liking.  It's like using a mop (as another nail polish enthusiast said to describe another polish brush).  It was very awkward to put on, let alone trying to put it on while leaving a space between the polish and the skin.  But other than that, it is quite lovely! :D

Have you used any of the new Essence polishes?  If so, how did you find their new brushes?

  1. Wow! I love that shimmer. Man I need to get me some of these cool Essence polishes that everyone's posting about. ;P

  2. This is beautiful! I love that blue shimmer...too bad the brush is too big lol

  3. What a gorgeous color! looks great on you :)

  4. This color looks amazing on you! I was just saying earlier today on my FB page how I wish I had a place where I could get these polishes locally, lol.

  5. @ Fitzy: Beware the big brushes lol!! I really hate their new brushes, but their colours and the larger bottle size are awesome! :D

@ drinkcitra: Yeah ahahha. At least that is the only downside. :)

@ Shelby Swatches: Aw thank you so much!!! :'D

@ JennaFroggy: Thank you so much, Jenna!! :D I really hope that you can find them locally soon!!

  6. Now I totally need Essence polishes! This is absolutely freaking gorgeous even with the crazy big brushes! <3

  7. That is such a lovely colour, the blue shimmer peeking through the grey is just gorgeous. It's too bad we can't get essence in the UK (at least not easily!) because they have such great colours! x

  8. What a lovely shimmer, this polish looks good on you!

  9. Marvelous colour for the dark, mysterious autumn nights (Halloween very much included) that loom ahead of us.

    ♥ Jessica

  10. I don't know how I feel about them. I bought two that looked like remakes of their old ones and I have yet to try them. The price increase isn't sitting well with me though =( I hope I do alright with the brushes..

  11. Gorgeous, Ash!! I don't have any of the new bottles yet! Need to try soon!

  12. @ The Daily Lacquerista: I’m glad you like the colour!! :D It is really dark in real life.

@ Powdered Almond: Aw, that sucks!! : ( I know your pain; there are quite a few polishes that we can’t get here in Canada, or are ridiculously hard to get. : (

@ Marias Nail Art: Thank you so much!!! :D

@ Jessica Cangiano: Oooh well said!! :D

    @ LittleMonsterx14: I’m glad you like it!! :D

    @ Sharra Farivar: I don’t mind the price increase as there is more product in their new bottles. But I really hate the brush!! >.<;

@ AllThatIsGorgeous: Thank you so much, Jenn!! :D I like how the new bottles have more polish in them. :D

  13. PERFECTION. Love this so much!

  14. Very nice! I was looking at this yesterday afternoon when I was at Ulta in the States, but it was nail polish of Revlon balm stains... so I went with the Revlon. Gorgeous colour though!

  15. @ Amanda: I'm so glad you like it!! :D

@ Kristy C: Hahaha I was thinking about picking up some of those Revlon's, but went for the nail polish instead. XD

  16. I love the blue sparkles in this! I haven't seen the new bottles at the Shoppers here, but I'm on the lookout!

  17. Your swatches of this polish are beautiful!!!! I had difficulty getting the shimmer to show up in mine :(
I think the trick with the new brushes is to use extremely thin coats......I'm disappointed with the new brushes slightly.

Thank you for your comments! :D

About Me

My Photo

Heyo!  I am the writer behind Art Evolve, a blog about things and stuff, that I update sometimes.  >:D

I have a serious love for books, gaming, and general sci-fi and fantasy things.

I also love music and art, and hope to become a better musician and artist as time goes on.

I just started playing Magic: The Gathering again after a looooong break (11 years!?!), and it is awesome.  I hope to become a better Magic player too, because I'm not that great at it heheheh.

I was introduced to edh last (I think?) month, and it has quickly become a favourite format.

UPDATE: Wow, that was in March of last year!  Time really flies!  Definitely not magnificent at it, but still on the Magic train and much better at it than last year.  XD

OH!  I also do MTG altered art, which I recently started and it is seriously fun and rewarding.  Magic + art practice?  Aw yeah!! :D

What else, what else...  I like video games, and play on both PC and console (PS!!).  I love rpg's and some good shooters, and killing zombies is a plus.

I love chocolate, tea and coffee.  I smoke cigarettes, which is stupid, so don't ever smoke cigarettes because it is stupid.

I also really like food.  Too much so.  Especially crunchy things!  I seriously need to get some bubble tea because it has been way too long.

I love to study but my ADHD makes it a bit difficult (a lot difficult, because remembering things can be kinda rediculous).  I also have obsessive compulsive disorder which sucks.  And anxiety disorders, which suck.

Favourite subjects include: astronomy, nihongo, art, geology, stuff like that.

HAVE AT YOU, KNAVE!  *slaps*
